Bengal Warriors is a Pro Kabaddi Club in Kolkata co-owned by Future Group, a business conglomerate in India, and Akshay Kumar, a famous Indian personality. The Bengal Warriors have the best of both worlds of business and entertainment resources to ensure their success. The co-owners are committed to supporting Kabaddi at all levels.
BC Ramesh, is the current coach of the Bengal Warriors, a position he has maintained since 2022. With a track record of coaching experience from national to international teams, Ramesh has the firsthand professional expertise on how to get the success rates that the Warriors desire.
The captain of the Bengal Warriors Squad in 2022 is Maninder Singh, an experienced professional Kabaddi player. Maninder was part of the team as far back as 2017, when he played exceptionally well at the year’s PKL. He was retained -and made captain- by the Warriors for his amazing collaboration, brilliance, and leadership qualities, which are sure to benefit the team.
The Bengal Warriors started out in the PKL on a very low note. Their performance in the inaugural season was so bad that they could not qualify as one of the top four teams of the season. In the second season of the PKL, they had still not found their footing and ended up performing woefully.
Bengal Warriors began to do better as a team when the 2016 PKL season came around. Their scores on the point table were not as strikingly bad as before, and they were able to use that as motivation to do better.
By the 2017 PKL, Bengal Warriors had made it into the position of the top zonal team, but a 44-47 scoreline saw them defeated by the Patna Pirates at the qualifiers stage of the season.
And in about two years, the Bengal Warriors were able to win the much-besotted PKL title.
This dedication has fans anticipating an amazing performance by the team this year. They are expected to defend and protect the title they worked so hard to get and we can only wait to see how their efforts turn out!
Between 2014 to 2022, the pro kabaddi Kolkata team played 122 games and won 57, bringing their win rate to almost fifty percent of games played. While not necessarily bad, it is a promise of potential in the team and we are hoping this season can witness fulfillment and retention of their PKL Title.
The Bengal Warriors Kabaddi Team is co-owned by the Indian conglomerate, Future Group, and popular Indian celebrity, Akshay Kumar. Future Group has its headquarters in the city Mumbai. The owners, Akshay Kumar and Future Group, put their collaborative efforts towards promoting Kabaddi in West Bengal.
